How we help

Our mission is cultivating
the purpose-grounded
life

We foster a healthy peer group process centered on cultivating the purpose-grounded life.

At Purposely, we're fostering healthy, loving peer groups that that cultivate the purpose-grounded life. Healthy groups help one another step back to reflect on the big picture of their lives, engage in re-creation and renewal, and move forward in new ways.

Find new paths

We’re all on a quest to find our own direction in life, asking the same kinds of questions about what we should be doing with our lives. We’re looking for more than a job. We’re wanting meaningful impact. We don’t just want to make money. We want to make a difference. That’s leaning into the purpose-grounded life.

While it is ultimately up to us to find our own paths, we do not have to go it alone by ourselves. Through working together in carefully crafted peer group process, we facilitate a culture for adaptive change where new pathways can emerge.

Go far, together

We all need space to step back, to refocus, to engage in re-creation and renewal to see clearly the paths ahead. It's not that we don't know how to do that. It's just we don't seem to do it well by ourselves.

When we work with others in a healthy group process, we carve out intentional space so that we can step back from the busyness and the constant striving to see the big picture of our lives. Working with others gives us the space to refocus, energy for true re-creation, and the grace to experience transformative renewal.

Overcome Obstacles

The path of the purpose-grounded life is rocky, muddy and slippery, steep and winding. There are many obstacles that all of us have to overcome: coping with stress and anxiety, procrastination, money, managing time and personal resources, balancing relationships, etc. Life itself can detour us from the path we want to follow. The peer group process creates a culture of support to help us stick with it through difficult times. We work together to overcome these obstacles and discover new paths forward.

Cultivate Purpose

Understand that there is a difference between a job, a career, and a purpose. We are all on a quest to find the path that we should follow. The purpse-grounded life is about setting the trajectory of our lives where work and life values are in alignment.

Purposeful work is about far more than a job or a paycheck; it is a natural expression of our gifts.

Our Process

Practical Guidance

We help engaged learners see beyond classes, majors, and degree programs and focus on alignment with their deepest values and life purpose. This is a process that, truthfully, remains ongoing throughout a person's life. Through self-directed peer groups, we provide guidance for groups to work together to establish their own culture where they identify their own goals and decide how best to work on those together.

Crafted Groups

We are wired to be social creatures, next to people, around people, with people. We are meant to live our lives with others. The problem is that we don’t always know how to do that, how to work with others, how to listen, how to let others help us along. Every peer group is unique, and a healthy group experience is something that we have to craft. It doesn’t happen just because we stick people in a room together. We faciitate healthy peer group formation.

Shared Experiences

Becoming an active learner means taking charge of your own learning process. It's not that we don't know how to do that. It's just that we don't seem to do it very well by ourselves. Through shared experiences together in a peer group, individuals receive the kind of nudge they might not be able to get on their own.

Adaptive Learning

Every career path has a mountain of technical knowledge that must be mastered, but what we often neglect is our skill in adaptive learning. That's where we apply what we've learned, problem solve, engage in creative thinking, and develop new ways of moving forward. Our self-directed peer learning groups help cultivate growth from the inside out.

Deep Reflection

We cannot grow if we don't understand the things we need to work on. In a loving way, our peer group helps to hold us accountable to see clearly our strengths and weaknesses and define the practices that we know we need to change. In a healthy peer group process, others can see things in us that we are not always able to see in ourselves.

Learning Community

The core of our website is a lot like Facebook groups, but unlike the big social media sites, our site isn't about posting random tid bits about your life and scrolling through other people's posts. It's about sharing what you're learning in your group and in your life and building a culture of shared experiences that has the potential of helping others along.
